While applying for a Study Permit, there are a set of requirements that an applicant must meet.
This is the initial document which the applicant must obtain from the school/institute/university that they seek to attend. They should receive this letter from a designated learning institution (DLA) prior to submitting their application.
Extensive supporting documentation must be provided with each application for a study visa. Requirements vary from country to country. Requirements for each country can be advised by a Vazir Group specialist or found under specific documentation requirements within the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website (IRCC).
The applicant must be a law-abiding citizen with no previous criminal record. A police verification certificate may be necessary.
The applicant must have a source of funds to cover the cost of education (tuition) as well as general living costs. This applies to themselves and any accompanying family members for the first year of study. A document providing the availability of sufficient funds must be submitted with the application. Funds should be under the name of the applicant, a family member or close acquaintance.
The applicant and each additional family member must have a valid passport or travel document whilst applying for their study permit.
The applicant must be in good health. They may be required to produce a health check certificate at the time of application.
These eligibility documents are extremely important as the visa assessment officers may refuse an application due to insufficiency. The Applicant must prove to the assessment officer that they have no intention to overstay the duration of their study permit and shall leave Canada upon completion of their education.
The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a quicker study permit processing program for those who are applying to study in Canada at a post-secondary designated learning institution (DLI).
This process of application was introduced to make admissions easier for International students from certain African and Asian partner countries. The students living in the following countries in Africa or Asia may be eligible to apply for a Canadian study permit through the Student Direct Stream.
The IRCC processes the applications made through the SDS within 20 Calendar days when all eligibility requirements are met by the applicant.
Once the applicant has received the study permit, all foreign students in Canada have a set of responsibilities that they must fulfil to ensure that the Permit remains valid.
